Jiarui “Nicole” Yang is a genre-fluid music director, media composer, and music producer based between the United States and China. She works across film, animation, and games, shaping musical direction and crafting distinctive sonic identities that respond to narrative and interactive design.

Her work spans sci-fi, epic orchestral, psychological drama, dark comedy, and experimental hybrid scoring. She is particularly experienced in designing unique sonic palettes for each project, integrating electronic textures, cinematic orchestration, and unconventional timbres to support worldbuilding and emotional clarity.

Alongside her compositional work, Jiarui regularly collaborates with developers, directors, and creative teams to translate narrative intent into clear musical direction. She is experienced in guiding collaborative workflows, providing feedback, and maintaining consistency across multi-composer or cross-disciplinary projects.

With a strong background in rock and songwriting, she brings rhythmic drive, structural precision, and memorable thematic writing to her scores. Her work balances artistic identity with production awareness, making her well-suited for both leading and contributing roles.

Jiarui has served as a music director for theatre and stage productions, and has contributed music to broadcast and televised events. Her original songs have been performed at industry showcases including the Society of Composers & Lyricists (SCL) Songwriters Night. She is currently pursuing an M.M. in Screen Scoring at New York University.
